3 Best places to eat seafood in Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona is known for its unique cuisine and its seafood dishes in particular, which are usually made from a fresh catch since the region is near the coast. I enjoy eating Catalan seafood dishes, of which the seafood paella is one my favourite meals. When it comes to fine dining, Barcelona has plenty of restaurants that provide seafood based dishes which are flavourful and well balanced. Whenever I visit Barcelona I make sure that Seafood in BarcelonaI book a table at one of these three restaurants.

Alkimia

Also known as Alchemy, this is one of the city’s most popular restaurants, which is known for its seafood dishes. Run by Jordi Vilà, this little gem can be found in the Eixample area of Barcelona and features unique dishes like the sea bass with cuttlefish ink and coconut milk and the Dentro de Mar, which is a shellfish dish with a blue sauce. This restaurant is open from Monday to Saturday and offers a reasonably priced menu. On your first visit to the restaurant it is advisable to order a tasting menu.

Ca L'Isidre

Located in the El Raval area of Barcelona, this eatery is open throughout the week, except on Sundays. It has an expensive menu but is well worth the price as it features some of the best seafood dishes in the city. Most of its dishes are Catalan in nature, although some feature French sauces and cooking methods. Popular dishes include baked sea bass, grilled turbot, grilled scampi, grilled sea cucumbers and grilled baby octopus. Run by Isidre Gironés, this eatery is favoured by King Juan Carlos

Els Pescadors

This Barcelona seafood restaurant is my favourite of the three and can be found in Poble Nou. It is a quiet eatery with great tasting dishes that are reasonably priced and features items like Tuna with pickled onions, Hake with leek mousseline sauce and calamari.
