Independent Fashion Designers Expo, 080 Barcelona
Now in its third year after it was created by the Ministry of Innovation, Universities and Enterprise of the Government of Catalonia 's 2007-2010 Action Plan for Catalan Fashion, the 080 Barcelona Fashion expo remains one of the highlights of Spain's fashion industry.
Held twice a year, the trade show aims to give independent fashion designs a platform to showcase their work. Blending innovation, young talent and creativity, as well as with an eye on the commercial aspect, the 080 Barcelona Fashion expo aims to gives independent designers a chance to get their collections picked up by 
international distributors. The exhibition attracts companies from all over the world, and for many small-scale designers, the show is a wonderful opportunity for them to network and make money from their designs. After all, breaking into the fashion world is hard enough, and if you can't get to the likes of Paris, New York and London, get them to come to you!
080 Barcelona Fashion not only boosts local upcoming talent, but it also gives its support to the region's industries. One part of the exhibition's original plan was to bolster the local textile industry, which was done by supporting international agreements between Catalonian companies and foreign designers, financiers and fashion lovers. By also having the exhibition in Barcelona, arguably Spain's most cosmopolitan city, it attracts world famous talent to the region, where Catalonia's wears could be viewed.
