The venues of the Fira de Barcelona
Barcelona is one of Spain's most cosmopolitan cities and is a location which generates vital income for the country's economy. Apart from tourism, the city often plays host to many international trade exhibitions and Expos.
Although the city has a host of convention centres, the 2 Fira de Barcelona venues are arguably the most popular and host exhibitions ranging from fashion, to business to caravans!
The centre is actually two venues - the Gran Via and the Montjuic, both of which cater to the site's 200,000 sq meters of floor space that can be dedicated to thousands of exhibition and trade show stands.
The Gran Via itself can cater for almost 6000 people (or 14,000 sq meters), however if a trade show's demands are
not that great, the area can be broken up into up to 20 rooms. While this may still be an impressive size, there are plans to expand the Gran Via's capacity by constructing another two pavilions that will add another 40,000 sq meters.
On the other hand, the Montjuic is spread across eight halls amounting to an impressive 115,000 sq meters of floor space. The main hall is the Palau de Congressos de Barcelona which not only has 5,800 sq metres of floor space for trade shows, but can accommodate up to 1,650 people for conferences.
With such facilities, and despite the lustre of the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya and the Barcelona International Convention Centre, the Fira de Barcelona remains popular with exhibitors all over the continent.
