Held at different venues, this unique event is a collection of parties and processions. The most interesting aspect of this event is the placing of hollowed-out eggs on the spouts of the city’s fountains. According to tradition,
unbroken eggs mean a year of good luck and many families take these brightly coloured eggs to the fountain to be a part of the event.
3. Festival of the Three Wise Men
Celebrated on January 5th and 6th, this special family event features story telling and a colourful parade with costumes and floats. Local children receive their presents on this day instead of on Christmas Day.
4. International Jazz Festival
This Jazz event welcomes established as well as amateur jazz artists to present concerts at Palau de la Musica and the Luz de Gas.
5. Festival de Sant Joan
The celebrations for this event commence on the eve before June 23rd and continue on to the 24th. On June 23rd, revellers light bonfires on the beaches, arrange several fireworks shows and celebrate throughout the night.
